The San Clemente Trolley is a free Summer public transportation ride services, and it regularly runs from Memorial Day weekend to the last Sunday in September. The system is made up of two routes, a Downtown Red Line and a North San Clemente Blue Line.
When in service, the scheduled service times for the Summer schedule are:
- Monday-Friday: 12 noon – 10 pm
- Saturdays: 10 am – 10 pm
- Sundays: 10 am – 8 pm
When in service, additional Holiday Service Hours:
- Memorial Day: 10 am – 8 pm
- 4th of July: 11 am – 11 pm
- Labor Day: 10 am – 8 pm
The trolleys are free to ride, and riders can expect a trolley at each stop about every 15 minutes. Trolley stops are clearly marked with signs. For real-time trolley tracking visit www.sctrolley.com.
The funding for the San Clemente Trolley came from a $1.2 million grant from the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) which the city applied for. The grant covers most of the cost to operate the trolley, and the City pays for the rest. The Friends of the San Clemente Beaches, Parks & Recreation Foundation provided a donation of $10,000 to help start the trolley service.
