The San Clemente Park Ranger Division serves as a uniformed safety presence throughout the city’s parks, beaches, trails, and open spaces. Park Rangers are public servants dedicated to maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for all who visit San Clemente’s natural and recreational areas. Through regular patrols and public engagement, the division works to preserve the beauty, accessibility, and integrity of these spaces for current and future generations.
Park Rangers are responsible for enforcing the City of San Clemente Municipal Code as it applies to public spaces. This includes addressing unauthorized activity, ensuring adherence to park and beach rules, and promoting responsible use of city property. Rangers also support permitted special events, manage public safety issues related to park use, and serve as a helpful point of contact for questions and concerns from the community.
To ensure a safe and respectful experience for all, visitors must follow posted rules and regulations. Including but not limited to:
- Beaches are closed from 10:00 PM to 4:00 AM
- Pier is closed from 12:00 AM to 4:00 AM
- Overnight camping is prohibited in all parks, beaches, and trails
- Smoking is prohibited in all parks and beaches
- Fires are only allowed in designated City fire pits
- Dogs are not permitted on the beach or pier at any time
- Dogs must be on a leash at all times in Parks or trail (except in designated areas), and owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets
- Alcohol is prohibited in all parks and on beaches
- Amplified sound, commercial activity, and large group gatherings may require prior City approval or a permit
Compliance with these rules helps protect the community, environment, and coastal resources.
