SB 1373 (BATES) APPROVED BY SENATE
A big win for South Orange County regional mobility, the environment and taxpayers

6/26/2020…San Clemente, California… SB 1373, introduced by Senator Patricia Bates (R-Laguna Niguel) was approved this morning by the Senate on a 24 - 6 vote. Thanks to the valiant efforts of Senator Bates, SB 1373, this is a win for South Orange County regional mobility, the environment and taxpayers. The bill now goes to the State Assembly for approval.

With the passage of SB 1373, the residents of San Clemente will finally be able to “…rest assured that they will know what they will get now and in the future,” as stated by Orange County Supervisor Lisa Bartlett when she made her motion for the TCA to drop the controversial southern extension of the SR-241 Toll Road.

“The City of San Clemente remains committed to the extension of the Los Patrones Parkway and the continued use of Developer Impact Fees to support its construction and environmental mitigation. We hope that SB 1373 passes the Assembly and all of South Orange County can rest easy knowing that their future has been secured,” said Laura Ferguson, Mayor Pro Tem of San Clemente.

“I am pleased that SB 1373 was approved by the full Senate,” stated Senator Patricia Bates (R-Laguna Niguel). “SB 1373, when signed into law, simply memorializes the March 12, 2020, decision by the TCA and allow South Orange County residents to know with certainty that their protected open space will not be divided by a large unnecessary thoroughfare.”
SB 1373 deletes from the state highway system the portion of State Route 241 from State Route 5 south of the City of San Clemente to Oso Parkway east of the City of Mission Viejo.
