SAN CLEMENTE 2020 FIREWORKS DISPLAY
City hosts fireworks show at the Visa Hermosa Sports Park

Friday, June 19, 2020…San Clemente, California… On Saturday, July 4, 2020, at 9p.m. the City of San Clemente will host its annual fireworks show from the Vista Hermosa Sports Park (VHSP), located at 987 Avenida Vista Hermosa. In light of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, the fireworks show is being relocated to the VHSP to avoid overcrowding and large gatherings at the beach and surrounding pier area. For safety, there will be no vehicle or pedestrian access or entry into the sports park.

To encourage residents to celebrate at home, the City is pleased to offer a live stream of the fireworks display. At approximately 8:50 p.m., spectators can enjoy a July 4th Fireworks Virtual Opening Ceremony which will include a message from San Clemente City Council, a rendition of the national anthem, and other homages honoring Independence Day. The video will be available from the City’s YouTube channel and will include the accompanying fireworks music.

VHSP and the San Clemente Aquatics Center will close on Friday, July 3 at 1 p.m. for preliminary preparations and setup of the fireworks. The park will remain closed until Sunday, July 5 at 6 a.m. To avoid major traffic problems, and for pedestrian safety, on July 4 beginning at 6 p.m., Avenida Vista Hermosa will be closed between Avenida Vera Cruz and Avenida La Pata; and Avenida La Pata will be closed between Avenida Vista Hermosa and Via Onda

Additionally, the south sidewalk and crosswalk along Avenida Vista Hermosa (nearest the VHSP) from Avenida La Pata to Avenida Vera Cruz will be closed to pedestrian access at Saturday, July 4 beginning at 6 p.m. These streets and sidewalks will reopen to vehicle and pedestrian access no later than 11 p.m.

Motorists are reminded that Avenida Vista Hermosa and Avenida La Pata are designated “No  Parking At Any Time” zones. Fireworks spectators are reminded to be respectful of surrounding businesses before and after the fireworks display.

Members of the public are reminded that San Clemente Municipal Code (SCMC) prohibits any operation of unmanned aircraft systems (“drones”) over City-permitted events and designated City-facilities, such as Vista Hermosa Sports Park, unless granted written or electronic permission by the City.
