Press Release - Junior Lifeguard Cancel Session 3

Post Date:06/18/2020 10:10 AM

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

6/18/2020

JUNIOR LIFEGUARD CANCELLATION

6/18/2020…San Clemente, California… To help protect the health and safety of the public, staff and Junior Lifeguard participants, the City of San Clemente is regretfully cancelling the third and final session of the 2020 Junior Lifeguard Program that was planned to start in mid-July. The first two Junior Lifeguard sessions have already been cancelled, and the City has been monitoring the State’s progress toward moving into Stage 4 of the Pandemic Resilience Roadmap. Since that is not expected until after the planned start of the final Junior Lifeguard session, and due to the lead time required to conduct swim try-outs and prepare for the session, the City is cancelling the entire Junior Lifeguard Summer 2020 program. This is consistent with actions by most other Orange County and Southern California agencies concerning their Junior Lifeguard programs. The City looks forward to offering the Junior Lifeguard program next summer.
