SDG&E’s Standard Economic Development Rate (EDR) is now in effect. All information on the rate can be found here:

The website includes the following information:

  • Fact Sheet describing the rate and requirements
  • EDR Application
  • EDR Tariff Schedules
EDR Overview

This rate discount provides a greater opportunity to compete against other states and attract new business, retain businesses that can do business anywhere and are sensitive to high energy costs, or expand businesses that can move high energy processes to another state.

  • Non-residential, non-governmental business customer that might relocate out of state
  • Business that would cease operations in California without the benefit of the EDR
  • Business that will relocate to SDG&E’s service territory from outside the State of California

  • Provides a 12% discount on monthly bills for five (5) years

Program Cap is 40 MW

  • 10MW set aside for businesses with demand equal or less than 150kW
  • 30 MW for businesses with demand greater than 150kW

Application Process

Step 1: Customer submits EDR Agreement/Affidavit to SDG&E, if approved then step 2
Step 2: Phone screen with Go-Biz, if approved then step 3
Step 3: Determine eligibility
Step 4: Sign contract and apply new rate

The EDR will promote the needs of the San Diego economy and the region’s ability to be competitive against other states when attracting new businesses. Whether your business is outside of California and looking for a new location, or even if you're facing financial hardship, you can count on us to be here for you. That's what true business partners are for.
