Applications Now Being Accepted for the Public Safety Task Force

At its meeting of March 2, 2017, the San Clemente City Council created a Public Safety Task Force.  The purpose of the task force is to review, discuss and analyze data to achieve consensus on recommendations for potential implementation measures related to Police Services.  Additionally, the task force will initiate and develop a community-based public safety strategic planning process that will result in a public safety strategic plan for the City Council to review and approve for future implementation.  At this time, the City Council is accepting applications from members of the public who are interested in serving on this task force.

The task force will consist of key stakeholders supported by a representative from the City Manager’s office.  The ten stakeholders will be:

  • 2 City Council members
  • 1 Planning Commissioner
  • 1 Beaches, Parks and Recreation Commissioner
  • 1 Human Affairs Committee Member
  • 1 Representative from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department
  • 4 Members of the Public (to include education and business community interests)

The Council, Commissions and Committee represented on the task force will each appoint their respective representatives to the task force.

The City Council will also appoint four members of the public to serve on the task force.  If you are interested in being considered for appointment to the Public Safety Task Force, you may download an application here, or you may call Lori Ojeda, of the City Clerk’s Office, at 949-361-8200 and request that an application be mailed or emailed to you.  Please submit your application to the City Clerk at the below address in time for it to be received prior to the close of business on Thursday, May 18, 2017.

The City Council will interview applicants and make its appointments on Wednesday, May 31, 2017. Applicants will be informed relative to the time of their interviews.
