Mayor's Statement for Hours of Operation at Ole Hanson Beach Club
Post Date:07/28/2018 10:41 PM
Late yesterday evening, the Council and City Management became aware of unauthorized signage placed at both the San Clemente Aquatics Center and the Ole Hanson Beach Club. Unfortunately, these signs outlined the new pool schedule and then explained that the reduced hours were due to recent budget cuts which were used to fund two new deputies.
As soon as City leadership became aware of the signs, we had them removed. The adoption of the City's budget for the fiscal year 2018-2019 was a difficult process. The City Council dealt with a number of priorities while having to maintain fiscal stewardship. The final adopted budget provides resources to public safety, while other City services and programs saw reduced funding, a decision that this Council takes full responsibility for. Reductions to departmental budgets is never an easy process, but it is extremely important for the City to continue to be professional in the delivery of resident services that City staff takes such great pride in. We apologize for this miscommunication, please know the City and the City Council support OCSD and the critical services they provide to all of us.
As always, if anyone from the community has a question or would like additional information, please feel free to email your City Council at CityCouncil@san-clemente.org
